I am married (23 years), father of two kids, a 14 year old daughter, and a 22 year old son who is over seas in the military as I type this.
Grew up on the family ranch raising cattle and horses, where you learned to be very creative to save money and make things work. My dad always remodeled houses to make ends meet, and every since I was old enough to hold a hammer I was on the job sites helping him. I am also a FANATICAL baseball fan, and IMO there is NO team other than the "Boston Red Sox" !!!
My hobbies other than woodworking are Rodeo, horse's, camping fishing, hunting and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). I am a Christian and try to be very involved in my local church (Always something to fix in a old church lol)
I have been in the remodeling business as long as I can remember, and it allowed me to make custom pieces for my customers. As time went, the business has grown enough to were I now have crews doing most of the work and I only get involved hands on when there is something fun to build like custom cabinets or built in shelves.
Now I have tons of time to just play in the shop and spend time with my family. As time has gone and my modest skills have grown a little, I am now getting several request for commissioned work, I LOVE to make custom one of a kind pieces of heirloom quality furniture, still trying to figure out what to charge for it :(, lol.
One thing I love to do, is carve, I try to incorporate some type of carving into every piece (of course, depending on the client, I can't always do this). My favorite carving style is scenery and wild life. And the hardest one I have ever done was a family portrait incorporated into a fireplace mantel (screwed up allot of wood trying to get it to look natural).
If the custom furniture thing keeps going the way it has the last few years, on the recommendation of Todd a fellow LJ I am going to start up my own web site to advertise and display some of my work.
I look forward to getting to know more LJ's and if you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.
God Bless

Welcome new buddy.
I too was envious of workshops I saw on tv etc.. before the internet. I just added one tool or maybe two at a time.
I have working at this for about 12 years to get to this point and I am still a little envious of some of the shops I see now and then here on LJ’s including yours.
