O.K.
Let’s get to the first project.
So like a lot of woodworkers I have taken to making some Christmas presents and since I have six nephews, all around the same age they tend to get similar gifts. So the year before last they got puzzle boxes courtesy of a book/DVD combo Puzzle Boxes by Jeff Vollmer
which they loved. I highly recommend it. This year I wanted to make something they would love just as much and would also scratch a woodworking itch, remember I am an addict and love ...

Today was not a typical day at nbss. Phil Lowe came and gave a 2 hour PowerPoint demo of the history of his work with over 200 hundred personal photos of his work and processes over the years. The scary part is that was the the latter of the 2 most exciting things today. Phil brought along a French master upholsterer with 50 years under his belt and he upholstered a Sheraton style aide chair made by a student. We watched him work for over 4 hours. Hi skill, speed and calm were incredible. He ...

Now I’m finding myself touching and digging deeper into checking out the fine details of the furniture. For example, we inherited a couple pieces of furniture, one piece very old, and the others, maybe bought in the 1970’ made by Thomasville. Wow what a ride. A lot of thinking and detail but we go there in the end. Here is the process involved in the top part of my dressing table. Hope you enjoy it.

So I spent some quality time yesterday in the shop, turning the end caps. Specifically turning the first one to final size and then cutting the shoulder into it for a nice, snug fit on the Schedule 40, and then starting to rough in the second one…
I may have to redo the first as I did something stupid. I removed it from the chuck before the drill chuck came in, so I haven’t center bored it yet… I will make certain it’s good and round before I start punching that cen...

Hey fellow Lumber Jocks, I thought I would share a recent article I posted on my blog. It’s not your typical lumberjocks.com project made from soild lumber, but it might be helpful to someone needing a cost effective plan for a wardrobe.
Renovating houses and home improvement projects are a very popular way to spend the weekends. With money being tight these days most home owners are choosing to put on the tool belt and get into the DYI method of renovating.
If you fancy yourself ...

I spent yesterday finishing up on organizing files and getting everything in ‘perfect’ order. After Monday’s day of sorting thorough receipts and figures, the simple act of putting things in their proper place and throwing out what isn’t needed was quite infectious and continued throughout yesterday.
I am a list keeper – whether it be in my head or on actual paper – and I have had several things that needed this or that and were nagging me from the back...
