I am fairly new to woodworking. There has been a Shopsmith in my garage, a gift from an old friend, for several years. It sat mostly unused for five years. Then my wife bought me a router for Christmas 2010. I really like building boxes.
I have about half a two car garage to work in. The driveway helps extend my workplace. My neighbors often stop by to see what I am working on and offer advice, comments and commentary.
I don't normally build from plans as I like to design my works. I recently built cabinet doors for the kitchen, it was quite an undertaking, for me. They came out pretty nice and I learned plenty from them.
I don't entertain ever making this a vocation, it is just a little something to keep me off the liquor.

I like your avatar – sort of. I actually hate spiders. We have quite a few of those here in Phoenix – where did you take that picture?

Hey Randy:

I took this pic just under the kitchen window (outside). She saw me and went under the lap siding. The next day with a gloved thumb I dispatched her. Two weeks later she was replaced by another almost as big. She too went under my thumb. I have eliminated several this year. One was in the bottom of a seldom used tool bucket. I captured her in a glass jar, but after awhile sent her to spiderdom. I have a thing for spiders (I don’t like them either) and often will take an hour or so to go spider hunting. Night time is a good time for hunting. Flashlight, gloves and a stick.

Hi Jumbojack:

Many thanks for your comments on my Sealover’s Wine Box. Great work you’re doing! If this is your set up for spray finishing your cabinet doors, my burning question is … just how many bugs have you had to pick out?!!

Do you play the Ukulele as well??

Cheers … Elaine from Duncan
