I statred working with mesquite wood about a year ago and one of the first machines I brought was the Ridge R4512 because of the price and the looks. One year later I am still trying to sell it. If I can’t sell it I will try to see if I can replace the motor with a motor with more HP. The Ridge R4512 is a good saw if you cut pine or soft wook BUT…..... it can’t cut mesquite or hard wood. It has a lot of problems cutting the wood. I have a lot of trouble cutting my wood for m...

Budget friendly and very workable

Budget friendly and very workable

23 days ago by Joe | 12 comments »

After MUCH deliberation, and I mean months of research, I finally landed on the Ridgid R5412. This saw has been reviewed a few times already, I just wanted to add my perspective. 1. Buying experience – kind of annoying. I had to wait around for someone to help me. My local home depot had 3 in stock, but could not fin them anywhere. After literally an hour of searching, I gave up. I was just going to go order it online – which I did not want to do. I wanted to inspect the packag...

Aggressive """NOT"""

Aggressive """NOT"""

I have tried the 6”orbital by ridgid 3 times.. I was lured by the lifetime warranty, i was reading on other sites that the warranty is not all that it’s cracked up to be.. anyway, I will never buy another ridgid sander again.. I’m tired of the frustration of having a tool you depend on, give up when you need it most. I am on the 4th sander and at this point i don’t care about the warranty.. The sander has a flaw., when you take apart the disc and the counterbalance you...

Bigger is not always better

Bigger is not always better

72 days ago by Sawdust4Blood | 10 comments »

Sadly this is my one Ridgid tool that has turned out to be a disappointment. I confess that I hate sanding and the thought that a larger, more powerful ROS might get me done sanding sooner may have seduced me into choosing this sander about 18 months ago when my faithful 20 year old Porter Cable gave up the ghost. Unfortunately, when it comes to ROSs, bigger is not always better. This sander is heavy and it’s size makes it cumbersome in many applications as well as being difficult ...

Ridgid R86006 drill only combo

Ridgid R86006 drill only combo

First this was an upgrade from my 15 year old Craftsman 14.4 volt cordless drill. I was unable to source batteries for it and it finally died. That being said I got this at my local HD with a 20% Harbor freight coupon and 10% veteran discount. Taking it out of the box, my first impression was that it was very light and didn’t seem “hefty” enough. That being said, I noticed right away that the batteries had charge indicators on them and they both were at 2 lights out of 4...

Great little router and a great value with one nit

Great little router and a great value with one nit

88 days ago by WhoMe | 7 comments »

I looked around and didn’t see a review for this router so I figured I would post one since I have had it for about a year. When I got it, it was on sale for $89 so it was even a better deal. I bought this because I was looking for a nice trim router that I could use instead of my beloved but HUGELY HEAVY Hitachi M12V for small projects. It came in really handy for routing door hinge mortises recently as I just finished installing 8 interior door slabs into their existing frames. I hav...

Improved switch design, great dust collection

Improved switch design, great dust collection

I haven’t had this sander long yet, so my 5 star rating is based ondesign and recent performance. After i have used it for a longerperiod of time, I’ll come back and update my rating if warranted. I really want to comment on two aspects of the sander design. First, the power switch. I’d read in some reviews that the design of theswitch could lead to inadvertent power ons/offs, and when I looked atthe display model at HD, I could see how this would be the case. Ibought it a...

Ridgid R4512 Table Saw Review

Ridgid R4512 Table Saw Review

153 days ago by TheRookieJer | 24 comments »

First off, I tried to be as thorough as I could when reviewing this table saw. Inevitably, though, I could not cover absolutely everything because of my specific time/budget constraints. I am a hobbyist/weekend warrior and will thus review from that perspective. Also, I have never owned any table “better” than this one. By that I mean that I have no idea what a new Powermatic or Delta Unisaw is like… I cannot tell you the quality gap between this Ridgid table saw and th...

Ridgid EB4424 Oscillating Edge Belt / Spindle Sander

Ridgid EB4424 Oscillating Edge Belt / Spindle Sander

160 days ago by David Grimes | 16 comments »

These have been reviewed a bit by others, but I just want to add a resounding “This is a great tool” to the heap. Lumberjock YBNORMAL lives in the same town as I do, so when he told me his was great and gets lots of use I had to take the plunge. I found it still priced at $199 at the BORG. I snagged a Husky support table at the same time ($35) so that I could mount this sander to it and have it a floor model from day one. Very sturdy when joined and perfect height for me. ...

Good Value, Serves its Purpose

Good Value, Serves its Purpose

196 days ago by Kelen | 4 comments »

I’ve probably waited much longer than I should have to purchase a featherboard setup for my table saw. Reading more into the magnetic featherboards and some of their reviews, I knew this would be the most versatile option instead of those that function using the miter track. I stumbled upon the Ridgid one online and read many positive reviews about it. The price point was also attractive relative to other brands that were selling for $50+ for what seemed to be the same basic concept....
