I've made my living as a cabinetmaker for some 35 years now, inhaled a lot of MDF dust and suffered a slew of ill tempered foremen and bosses, but also made quite a few good things for people and had some pleasant and exciting times doing what I love to do. In a good shop now.
My father was a pretty good amateur woodworker when he had time (six kids), he taught me things and left me his machines and tools and the skill in my hands. I'm showing my very young (9) daughter a few moves now; she has built four small projects so far. She is also the main focus of what I do after work, which is, just playing around and reading with her and then more woodworking. I like furniture and wood games mostly as well as kites.
While most of the commercial and residential projects we make at work are rather generic, i.e. boring, I will post the occasional one that is extra ordinary and that I have made exclusively. These are shown to display unusual design (not mine), innovative use of materials or simply what you can do with pots and pots of money. You may find some inspiration in them or merely want to see what you can do with pots.
Before posting this I have browsed through hundreds and hundreds (9750 so far) of your past projects and noticed skill levels from the very rough beginner to some that are much more accomplished than myself. When I show my work and make my comments I'll try to keep both in mind. I knew nothing when I started.
Oh , and one other thing; I hold no truck with dovetails, ugly little things.

Welcome, gene, to Lumberjocks. You will surely enjoy the company as much as I do.
In few weeks time, I will write about my double layered bowl. Thanks for the comment.

Hello, welcome to the site. I like finding other Candaian LJ’s. I first saw your ladder and was amazed it’s fantastic. Can’t wait to see more. No pressure.

Hello and welcome to LJ’s! This forum is very friendly and all are welcome to participate in what ever level or interest they may have with wood. My newbie status to woodworking has been welcomed with open arms, even if some of my techniques and approach to the craft are unorthidox. The family of members here are full of inspiration and encouragement and many have a great amount of expertise to share, so don’t hesitate to show off your projects, large or small, as each has something worth acknowledging.
Enjoy!
Meilie

Thanks for your comments! My wife is a Veterinarian and has already filled it with medical books and I get a quarter of one shelf for whatever I’m currently reading. LOL. Next up is a twin bed in the craftsman style for my youngest son along with a night stand. Todd
